Things that helped me learn japanese: Mo looks like a worm on a hook, and a worm will help you catch "mo" fish lol Forgot the pic we used for shi Used the same thing for nu The way I learned best was just using the characters in sentences. Also, "try" is "しってみる" Sorry for condescending

Got the kana learning book. There is actually an english version. It's called 'Remembering the Kana' by Japan Publication Trading Company (2001). So far the book is nice. They use a similar technique. Without monsters though ;)

Thanks luke. It's funny you mentioned the Hiragana, i've been learning that for the last few weeks. I'm starting out with a Hiragana chart. Looks like i'll have to also learn Katakana too 'cause I see some of the game boxes you have there in the Mega Drive collection, looks like Katakana (not that i'd know just yet). Thanks man!

Maybe with "shi", you could refer to at as "she" as in "she does her hair".

I'm taking a basic Japanese class when I start college... There were many spots open when I signed up for the class. I hope this isn't a bad sign...I really want to learn the language for many reasons. Thanks for the lesson, I really appreciate it and would love to see more videos on the subject.

Sweet video, if you ever feel the urge I hope you do some more small japanese lessons. I want to learn japanese, purely for video games that arent released in english or are released first, but I found it very hard to start out. I even picked up "My Japanese Coach" on DS and it seems like it could be good but I still havent found that urge to learn yet and Ive never managed to get in that language learning mode (even after 6yrs of german in school). Need to go watch your videos, cant keep up :)

I can identify hiragana from katakana and identify a few kanji, I believe kanji is chinese text modified to japanese text (I could be wrong); it also looks like there are millions of japanese characters but I only know so much
